Japanese Festival of Wellington – 2010

Aikido Tenshindo has been invited to participate in the Japanese Festival of Wellington. The festival is tomorrow (5th September from 1pm to 7pm). More event info

There will be a number of demonstrations from karate to taiko (drum group) to tea ceremony. And, our friends from Wellington Judo and Jujitsu have kindly offered us some of their demonstration time. If you’d like to join us on stage, or just come and watch, we’re scheduled for five minutes between 5:15pm and 5:35pm.

The festival is a combination of free cultural events, and a great way to mark the beginning of Spring.

New Dojo!

Yesterday morning, Richard, Shane and I laid the high-density underlay onto the new dojo floor. There is still a bit of trimming to do to fit the pieces into the tight spaces, but most of it is down.

Richard will be arranging a van for Monday to transport the Massey mats to their new home. That’s right, we’re very close to having our very own space, and implementing our new training schedule!

This is a very exciting time for Wellington Aikido Club.
